The spiritual heart of Madrid beats with renewed fervour, especially in the Parish of the Blessed Sacrament, which on October 12, the feast of Our Lady of the Pillar, welcomed 25 new members of the Blessed Sacrament Association, belonging to the Filipino community Couples for Christ in Madrid.
This event, filled with joy and fraternity, marked an important stage in the life of the Association in Madrid and was centred on the solemn promise of the new members, a public declaration of their commitment to living the charism of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament. Inspired by Eymard’s vision, the Association aims to make the Eucharist the source and centre of the lives of those belonging to it, while transforming them and society through fraternity, prayer, and service. The culminating moment of the event was the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Rudsend Paragas, Superior of the Blessed Sacrament Province of the Philippines. His presence highlighted the strong spiritual bond of the entire Eymardian Family with the Lay Associates. In his homily, he exhorted each member to become committed to spreading God’s love manifested in the Eucharist throughout their own families and Christian communities. The feast of the Virgin Mary, venerated as Our Lady of the Pillar, added further depth of meaning to the event, recalling Mary’s role as the first and perfect adorer of Christ.
Throughout the day the atmosphere was one of true joy and profound communion. For the new members, it was the culmination of a period of formation, characterized by prayer, formation meetings, and a deepening of their understanding of the Eucharistic mystery. For the other Associates, it was a joyful sharing of their mission and warm welcome to their new brothers and sisters in the faith.
The commitment undertaken by the new Associates is not merely a formality, but a call to the Eucharistic apostolate: to draw strength from the Sacrament and share that spiritual richness throughout their daily lives, their service to the Church, and their commitment to those in need. Gradually as the Association of the Most Blessed Sacrament of Madrid grows, its members continue to be a living witness to the power of the Eucharist, while they endeavour to bring the light of Christ’s presence to the world in a unique act of charity and fraternity.
