The Isidore Bakanja Province experienced an event of rare spiritual and fraternal importance on January 5, 2026. On this occasion of Brother Kizito Prospère’s golden jubilee, the Eymardian family gathered to give thanks to God for the fifty years of religious life he faithfully offered in service to the Eucharist and fraternity. The celebration of such a jubilee means acknowledging memory as a theological space (‘locus theologus’), where God’s action, human response, and the ever-renewed hope of the Church are interwoven.
Brother Kizito Prospère pronounced his first religious vows on December 25, 1975, the day of the Lord’s Nativity. Fifty years later, on December 25, 2025, to the day, Providence ordained that he celebrate his faithful commitment at the very heart of provincial life, in an atmosphere of profound communion. Indeed, to celebrate fifty years of religious life is above all the celebration of God’s faithfulness in time and space, and the recognition of the fruitfulness of a commitment lived with perseverance, responsibility, and the gift of self.
The richness of this day of jubilee was expressed harmoniously structured around four major moments: the Eucharistic celebration, the exchange of greetings for the year 2026, the solemn convocation of the Provincial Chapter, and the fraternal meal. Together these moments highlighted the day with a depth at once human, spiritual, and ecclesial.
A dazzling morning under the sign of the Eucharist
The day began in an atmosphere that was both solemn and joyful with the Eucharistic celebration, presided over by the Provincial Superior, Father Olivier Ndondo, around whom there were many priestly confreres, religious, and nuns, as well as friends and relatives who came from various communities to honour the jubilarian and share in his joy.
From the very first instants, the assembly was filled with a profound attitude of gratitude.. The hymns, fervent participation of the faithful, and the quality of the fraternal communion gave this Eucharistic celebration a unique character. It was not merely a matter of giving thanks for the life of a brother, but of celebrating, through him, the vitality of the Eymardian charism and the fidelity of an entire Province called to live “for the Eucharist and through the Eucharist.”
In his homily, the Provincial Superior emphasized the ecclesial dimension of religious life, recalling that the fidelity of a consecrated person becomes a prophetic sign for the Church and the world, especially when it is rooted in adoration and fraternity lived daily.
Exchange of Good Wishes for the year 2026: a gesture of communion
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the members of the province exchanged New Year’s greetings for 2026. This seemingly simple moment was to become deeply symbolic. It concretely expressed the communion, solidarity, and love that unite the members of the great Eymardian family.
The fraternal greetings, reciprocated smiles and kind words strengthened the sense of belonging to the same spiritual home, united by the Eucharist and by the desire to walk together on the paths of the mission inherited from our holy founder, Peter Julian Eymard. In this context of jubilee, this exchange of greeting took on a special resonance, reminding us that fidelity is nourished by genuine relationships and shared grace.
Solemn convocation of the 6th Provincial Chapter
The day was also marked by the solemn convocation of the 6th Provincial Chapter, announced by Father Patrick Adidolo, under the theme: “Together for the Eucharistic Mission”. Inserted within the context of Brother Kizito Prospère’s Golden Jubilee, this convocation strongly emphasized the continuity between remembering the past, taking responsibility in the present, and hoping for the future.
This institutional and spiritual moment at the same time showed a Province aware of present challenges and of its resolute commitment to renew its mission in the light of the Eucharist. The fidelity lived by the jubilarian thus shone as a living witness, calling everyone to a renewed availability to serve the people of God.
The fraternal meal: the joy of being together
The celebration continued with a fraternal meal held in the parish hall of the Blessed Sacrament church. This convivial time brought out the lived meaning of the fraternity celebrated at the altar. Spontaneous exchanges, shared laughter, and the simplicity of relationships created a family atmosphere, filled with joy and gratitude.

At the heart of this festive atmosphere, Brother Kizito Prospère’s address deeply moved the congregation. With humility and wisdom, he shared the fruits of fifty years of religious life in these simple yet powerful words that he uttered: “After fifty years of religious life I have understood that fraternity is not an option, but a vocation”. These words, received with emotion, resonated as a true spiritual synthesis of his journey. They reminded everyone that religious life is built day by day through welcoming others, patience, forgiveness, and the joy of living together.
The celebration of Brother Kizito Prospère’ fifty years of religious life will remain etched in the memory of the Isidore Bakanja Province as a powerful moment of joy, fraternity, and thanksgiving. The Province treasures its heritage of joy and hope. Through liturgical, communal, and festive moments, this day powerfully reminded us that religious life, when rooted in the Eucharist and lived in an authentic brotherhood, remains an inexhaustible source of joy, fruitfulness, and hope for the Church and the world.
