Sacerdotal ordination in Sri Lanka

Revd. Fr. Vijayaraj Anton Rohitha, the beloved son of Mr. Francis Saviour and Mrs. Juliet Mutukumar was born on the 27th November 1990 in Kattakadu, Puttlam, Sri Lanka. He is the second child of the three sons of these pious parents.

He entered the Blessed Sacrament Study Facility in 2007 and successfully completed his Advance Level Examination at St. Peter’s College, Colombo.

Then He commenced the initial stages of religious formation in the Congregation and received his First Profession on the 2nd August 2013. Thus, he entered the National Seminary of Our Lady of Lanka and pursued both his Philosophical and Theological studies and excelled in his studies with highest praise (Summa Cum Laude).

Being faithful to the Call of God throughout of his initial formation, Fr. Anton Rohitha made his Perpetual “Yes” to God on the 21st November 2020.

Then, he received the Holy Order of Diaconate on the 22nd November 2020 by His Lordship Rt. Revd. Dr. Vianney Fernando, the Bishop of Kandy, at the Blessed Sacrament Scholasticate Chapel. Fr. Rohitha served as a Deacon at St. Philip Neri’s Church, Colombo and St. Thomas’ Church, Matale.

Then, in spite of many inconveniences caused by the current quarantine rules of the country due to this global pandemic situation, we as a Blessed sacrament community had the joy of seeing our brother climbing up to the altar of God and becoming a fortunate recipient of this immutable gift of God, the Sacerdotal Ordination, on the 15th July 2021, at St. Philip Neri’s Church, Colombo, by Rt. Revd. Dr. Valance Mendis, the Bishop of Chilaw. Revd. Fr. Anton Rohitha, newly ordained priest, offered his First Holy Eucharist at his Parish Church, Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, Daluwakotuwa, Negombo, on the 25th July 2021. We, the Blessed Sacrament Religious in the Province of Christ the Bread of Life welcomed Revd. Fr. Rohitha, our brother, to our Eucharistic Cenacle, with unalterable fraternal love.

It is our fervent prayer today that our Holy Founder St. Peter Julian Eymard and our Lady of the Most Holy Blessed Sacrament will accompany Fr. Rohitha with their paternal and maternal love to do the apostolate that God has already set apart for him. “Tu es sacerdos in aeternum”.
