On February 21, 2017, Bishop Julian Winston Sebastian Fernando SSS, Bishop of Badulla since March 1997, was elected president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Sri Lanka, succeeding Bishop Edmund Joseph Fernando O.M.I.

And recently, at their annual general meeting last December 2017, Father Dilan Fernando SSS, provincial superior of the Blessed Sacrament Congregation in Sri Lanka, was elected president of the Conference of Major Religious Superiors (CMRS) of Sri Lanka, succeeding Fr. Jeyaraj Rasiah SJ.
